Two Titans earn Fall 2011 NWAACC Academic Leadership Award

The NWAACC Academic Leadership Award for Fall 2011 was just awarded, and two Women's XC student-athletes were recipients. Gylany Crossman had a 4.0 GPA, was an All-American by placing second at the NWAACC XC Championships, and was a member of the Student-Athlete Leadership Committee. North Eugene grad, Rachel Jensen, had a 3.86 GPA, placed ninth at the NWAACC XC Championships, and was also a member of the SALC. People on the list had to have the qualities listed below:
- A second year athletic participant at an NWAACC member college
- Earned 40 + credits (Fall Sports) and 60 + credits (Winter and Spring sports)
- 3.50+cumulative GPA
- Involved in campus or community activities
Elias Gedyon joins Lane Track Team
Seeing much success as a high schooler, Elias Gedyon recently made the move to Eugene. Elias comes to Lane as a 3-time CIF Cross Country State Champion, as well as a 2-time CIF Track State Champion at Loyola High School in Los Angeles. This past summer he had a runner-up finish in the 1500 at the USATF National Junior Championships. He has PRs of 1:51.91 in the 800, 3:47.65-1500, 4:02.08-Mile, 8:50-2Mile, and 14:52-5k.
Silvey leads Titans to third Lane’s Gylany Crossman second at NWAACC cross country meet

EVERETT, Wash. — Lane’s men finished third at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges cross country championships Saturday, paced by top finisher Daniel Silvey in 13th, at Legion Memorial Golf Course.
The Titan men scored 102 points, behind champion Everett with 21 and Spokane with 69. Silvey covered the 8,000 meters in 25 minutes, 23 seconds, with teammate Ryan Perry right behind in 14th in 25:27. Everett’s Berekep Piatt was the individual champion in 24:32.
Gylany Crossman led an incomplete Titan women’s team in 18:23 over 5,000 meters to finish second behind champion Mikel Elliott of Spokane in 18:07. Lane’s Rachel Jensen was ninth in 19:05. Everett swept the team titles as its women won with 56 points.
