Kohler keeps Lane in the hunt
Pitcher combines on two-hitter as Titans advance to final day at NWAACC tourney

LONGVIEW, Wash. — Larsen Kohler and Nick Phillips combined on a two-hitter and Lane rallied to beat Chemeketa 2-1 for their second victory Sunday, sending the Titans into the final day of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College baseball tournament.
The Titans (32-16) defeated Treasure Valley 6-1 in their first game Sunday, and they are one of three teams still alive heading into today’s final round of the double-elimination tournament.
Lane will play the winner of the Lower Columbia-Bellevue game, scheduled for this morning after it was postponed by rain Sunday.
Lane opened the tournament Thursday with a loss to Lower Columbia, the tournament host. But the Titans rallied to advance out of the loser’s bracket after Andrew Schumacher drove in the go-ahead run to score Joe Offer in the seventh inning against Chemeketa Sunday.
Tyler Conner drove in Matt Myrmo to tie the score 1-1 earlier in the seventh inning.
Chad Fahey gave Chemeketa the lead in the third inning with a solo home run off Kohler, who settled down and allowed just two hits while striking out seven in seven innings.
Phillips pitched two scoreless innings to earn earn his league-leading 14th save.
In the win over Treasure Valley, Scott Allred allowed only one unearned run and Ran Berger hit a three-run homer for the Titans.
Reed Nicholson threw two scoreless innings in relief.
