Lane women back in Final Four
The Titans beat Skagit Valley in the quarterfinals of the NWAACC tourney

KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Lane Community College women’s basketball team advanced to their seventh straight Final Four with an 84-67 victory against Skagit Valley in a quarterfinal game at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges tournament Sunday night.
The No. 2 Titans (24-4) — the defending NWAACC champion — will take on Walla Walla today at 6 p.m. for the chance to play for their fifth championship since 2005.
MaKenzie Ficek led the Titans in scoring with 18 points. Tiffany Rich and Theresa Brown added 17 and 12 points, respectively.
Keri Arendse, Brandi Benner and Jessica Edge scored 13 points each for Skagit Valley.
The Titans opened the tournament with a 51-37 victory against Spokane late Saturday night.
Sarah Brolsma Whitfield scored 16 points for the Titans as Lane outshot Spokane 25 percent to 17 percent in a game that didn’t start until nearly 11 p.m.
Brown added 11 points for the Titans, and Lynette Minthorn had 15 rebounds.
