Titans lose lead, game against CBC
KENNEWICK, Wash. — For one half, it looked as if Lane would cruise into the NWAACC women’s basketball semifinals.
The third-ranked Titans led 29-16 at halftime, but second-ranked Columbia Basin held Lane to 24 percent shooting in the second half and outscored the Titans 42-17 the rest of the way for a 58-46 victory in a quarterfinal game on Sunday at the Toyota Center.
Lane (23-6) will play a fourth-place semifinal against Highline at 2 p.m. today. The loss kept the Titans out of the semifinals for the first time since 2005.
Tiffany Idler led Columbia Basin with 15 points and Trishi Williams added 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Ashley Smith led Lane with 18 points and eight rebounds, but she was the only player to score in double figures for the Titans. Reed Levings grabbed 10 rebounds.
