Titans sweep NWAACC multi-event titles

GRESHAM — Kevin Godfrey gave Lane its seventh decathlon title in the last nine years at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges multi-event championships at Mount Hood on Tuesday.

Godfrey, a sophomore out of Douglas High School in Winston, scored 6,544 points to easily defeat Spokane’s Carter Bell with 6,175 points. Spencer Wordell, also of Spokane, was third with 6,085, giving the Sasquatch 14 team points to the Titans’ 13 heading into the NWAACC championships on May 24.

Lane picked up three more points from Tony Keller’s sixth-place finish with 5,419 points.

Lane also claimed the heptathlon crown as Sam Berryman won with 4,465 points. Southwestern Oregon’s Kelsea Johnson was second with 3,958.

Jacee Rutherford added another point for the Titans by placing eighth with 3,265. SWOCC scored 17 points in the heptathlon to Lane’s 11.
