Coach Bruce Chavka is entering his fourth year at the helm of the Titan basketball program. In his second year, the Titans qualified for the NWAACC tournament, LCC’s version of March Madness. Coach Chavka comes from league rival Southwestern Oregon Community College where he was an assistant basketball coach.
Coach Chavka has over 19 years of teaching and coaching experience. Prior to coming to Oregon in 2005, he was the head basketball coach at Napa Valley Community College in California.
Coach C, as he is known among his players, also served as a head high school coach at Middle Park High School in Granby, Colorado, and at La Veta High School in Southern Colorado.
The Colorado native is a graduate of Western State College where he served as an assistant coach to Fred Litzenberger and Bob Hofman. Coach C has also served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, as well as the assistant basketball coach and head men's golf coach at Lamar Community College in Colorado. Coach C also served as a graduate assistant at University of Northern Colorado.
Currently, Coach Chavka serves on the Athletic Leadership Committee at Lane Community College and as a mentor to local kids through Lane County’s Committed Partners for Youth.
Coach C is a proud product of the community college system. He attended Otero Junior College in Colorado and played for the school as a shooting guard.
Coach C holds a Bachelors of Science degree in physical education and a Bachelors of Arts degree in history. Coach Chavka is in the Master’s program at Emporia State University. He is the proud father of a 5 year old daughter, named Hadley, whose favorite teams are the Denver Broncos and the Lane Titans.

Brian Stamme begins his fifth season with the Lane Community College men's basketball team in 2009-2010. Brian has assisted the titans to two NWAACC appearances in the past four years.
Brian graduated from South Tahoe High School in 2003, where he was student assistant coach for the boy’s varsity team. Brian was a four year letter winner in tennis at South Tahoe. After graduation, Brian enrolled at the University of Oregon, where he was appointed as a manager for the men’s basketball team. He was there two years prior to being named head manager and director of basketball operations at Lane. In the spring of 2006 he was appointed as an assistant to the Lane coaching staff.
Brian graduated from the University of Oregon in the spring of 2008, with a Bachelors of Arts degree in History and a minor in Geography. Brian was hired as an instructor at LCC in the summer of 2008. He has taught basketball and tennis classes. In the summer of 2009 he was also hired to teach tennis classes at the University of Oregon. He plans on teaching history and coaching basketball. Brian is engaged to Morgaine Hall.

Ron Richards has been involved with Titan basketball for some time, having been an assistant with the women’s program from 1989-1992. This is his 6th year with the men’s program. Ron has assisted the titans to two NWAACC appearances in the past three years.
Coach Richards complements the team nicely, bringing over 30 years of assistant coaching experience to the table, Starting in 1977 as a high school senior where he assisted the program at Mount Tacoma High School in Tacoma, Washington. He then took off to Pullman where he worked in the Men's and Women's Basketball program under former coaches George Raveling and Harold Rhodes. He graduated from Washington State University with a B.A. degree in social sciences and a minor in physical education.
Ron’s coaching escapades have led him all over the Northwest, working with both men’s and women’s programs. Some of his career highlights include back-to-back 2A Women’s State Titles, 1980-82, as an assistant with Moscow High School in Moscow, Idaho. He helped win another state title while assisting the women’s program at North Eugene High School in 1988-89. In addition, Ron won a men’s Midwestern League Title in 2003 while assisting Jim Fryback with the Springfield Millers.
Coach Richards has two boys Jamahl, 21 who played at North Eugene and Sheldon HS. Shabir 14, is currently a freshman in high school playing football, basketball and baseball.

Jeff joins the titans after coaching at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon last year.
Jeff graduated from Kelseyville High School in 2003, where he was a three year letter winner in basketball. While there he was named to the all-North Central League and all-Lake County basketball teams three times. Larson participated in track and football earning him a total of eight varsity letters.
Jeff was recruited by and played for Coach Chavka at Napa Valley Community College. He was a starter there for two seasons and set records for 3-pointers in a game (9) and in a season (113). In 2006, he was named honorable mention all-conference as well as academic all-conference for the Bay Valley Conference.
Jeff transferred to Dominican University in San Rafael, CA. He played in the first two games before sustaining an injury. He returned home to Kelseyville where he was an assistant to the varsity boys basketball team.
Jeff transferred to Linfield College where he played one season. He was named the JV team’s best newcomer and set personal highs against Concordia with 30 points and nine 3-pointers. In his second year he decided to join the coaching staff. He was the head coach of the Junior Varsity team.
Jeff graduated from Linfield College in the spring of 2009, with a Bachelors of Arts degree in History. He is attending graduate school at Northwest Christian University, where he is pursuing a masters degree in history. He plans on becoming a counselor and coaching basketball.
Tyler joins the Lane Community College men's basketball team in 2008-2009.
Tyler spent three seasons at Lane, playing two. His sophomore year he played for coach Chavka. Tyler was a great leader and added an intense work ethic. After playing at Lane Tyler transferred to the University of Oregon were he is pursing a degree in anthropology.
Tyler graduated from North Salem high school in 2003. At North Salem he obtained six varsity letters in basketball, tennis, and soccer. He was named 1st team all-region in tennis as a senior. Tyler graduated with a 3.7 GPA. He was a four time honor student and was given Student Athlete of the Year honors. He has won nationals for racquetball twice. After graduation, Tyler enrolled at the University of Hawaii. He spent one year there before transferring to Lane.
Tyler graduated from the University of Oregon in the spring of 2009, with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Anthropology. He plans on getting his masters degree in education and perusing his goal to coach basketball at the division one level. Tyler is engaged to Jessie Thayer.
