Saints squeak by Titans
GRESHAM, OR - The Lane and Mt. Hood Baseball teams finally got in their double-header after being rained out on April 3rd and April 12th. All that waiting paid off for the Saints as they came away with two wins. In game one, Mt. Hood scored the winning run with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 3-2 victory. Dawson Phinney went 7 2/3 inning for the Titans, but Zach Eyster got the loss. Once again Lane outhit their opponent 10-6, and Alex Cornwell and Nic Coffman both went 2-for-3.
In game two, Lane outhit Mt. Hood 8-2 and left 8 men on base including stranding the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, which ultimately resulted in a 3-1 loss for the Titans. Zach Kayser pitched four inning allowing 3 runs, one of which was earned because of two Titan errors. Blake Montague (pictured) went 3-for-3 and Shaun Boehm went 2-for-3. The two losses put the Titans at .500 in league play at 8-8 and 14-12 on the season. Next up for the Titans is a home double-header against Clackamas (8-19, 5-10) on Saturday, 4/28 starting @ 1pm. Lane beat Clackamas in a double-header earlier in the year with a total of 27-5 runs.
